How it works

The method

Plant count is multiplied by the crop’s reviewed per-plant yield range, then reduced by the higher of your loss buffer or the crop default.

Worked example

Two cherry tomato plants might produce a broad multi-pound range, but disease, support, cultivar, and season length can move the outcome substantially.

Remember: Garden outputs are planning ranges. Weather, cultivar, soil, pests, sunlight, and care can materially change the result.

Common questions

Before you act on the number

Is this a guarantee?

No. Yield is one of the least predictable garden outputs, so Gardiv deliberately keeps the range broad.

What counts as loss?

Failed plants, pest damage, weather damage, unharvested produce, and kitchen waste can all contribute.

Are units always pounds?

No. Crops may use pounds, count, or bunches when that is the more practical planning unit.
